How Can Child Protective Services Partnerships Strengthen Early Childhood's Work for Children and Families?

In this edition, we look at innovative strategies to partner with Child Protective Services agencies as one part of an overall strategy of promoting healthy child, family and community development. These evidence-based strategies support the principles and practices of Free To Grow to continue to strengthen the families and communities of young children

Child Protective Service agencies are looking to partner with communities to do their work better and more effectively. An early childhood program that reaches out to parents may be the best child abuse and neglect prevention strategy. Because substance abuse and child abuse in a family are closely linked together, those community based organizations working with families must consider partnering with child protective services in an effort to make a difference in the lives of children, families and communities.
